Over the past week, students have been returning to school. Big Sandy in Dallardsville along with Corrigan-Camden ISD were the first in the area to open their doors on August 4.  Then, schools such as Centerville, Latexo, Apple Springs, Livingston and Colmesneil welcomed students back to school.

Today (August 12), many other schools across Deep East Texas are starting classes, including Lufkin, Huntington, Woodville, Warren, Zavalla and Groveton.  By the time August 24 arrives, pretty much all schools will have started their school year.  See the entire list of when schools start here.

When schools start up, you can expect certain things to happen.  Traffic jams will almost be a certainty as schools, monitors, buses and parents become acquainted, in many cases by trial and error, of their school's drop off and pick up procedures.  By September, 'Senioritis' will have already begun to set in on those graduating next Spring. And, with the advent of social media some years ago, get ready for the onslaught of first day of school photo postings.

Over the past 10 years, KICKS 105 has asked proud East Texas parents to send us their first day of school photos.  We like to make a huge gallery of pictures so that we can spotlight the youngsters that are heading back to school. We're doing that again this year.  You can submit your photos by e-mailing them here:  danny.merrell@townsquaremedia.com, or you can submit them through our KICKS 105 App.

Another reason we want you to send in your pictures is so that we can feature the photos in a 'look back' edition.  Take a look at these first day of classes photos from 2013.  Recognize anyone?
