Adorable East Texas First Day of School Photos from Years Ago
I don't remember much about my first days of classes back when I was in primary school. The bits and pieces I recall include the names of my teachers, Mrs. Beaver, Mrs. De La Cruz, and Mrs. Voigt. I remember a Big Chief red tablet, the smell of Elmer's paste, and the almost intoxicating smell of walking past the teacher's lounge -- that's where they kept the mimeograph machine.
I also recall the only photos that were taken of me in primary school were on the official picture day at school. Things have changed quite a lot since then. The advent of the camera on smartphones has turned the first day of school pictures into a tradition, actually more like a rite of passage.
We are just starting to see some of those smiling faces across social media pages as a few of the area school districts have started back up for the new semester. Apple Springs, Corrigan-Camden, and Leggett returned to class last week. Monday and Tuesday this week will see Centerville, Groveton, Latexo, Livingston, Timpson, Colmesneil, and Pineywoods Community Academy head back to school. Then, on Wednesday, about a dozen Deep East Texas area schools are scheduled to have their first day of class, which includes Lufkin, Diboll, Central, and Jasper.
So, get ready for the onslaught of first-day photos. Make them memorable and when you're done, feel free to use our KICKS 105 App to send some of the photos to us. We can save them and then publish them 5 or 10 years down the road as we have done below.
