Kelsea Ballerini Freaks Out Over Compliments From Shania Twain [Watch]
Kelsea Ballerini has been spending a lot of time with Shania Twain lately, but she still couldn't quite wrap her head around it when her idol showered her with praise.
The "Legends" singer shared the stage with Twain at Stagecoach Festival 2017 in April, and just last month she viewed Twain's new exhibit, Shania Twain: Rock This Country, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville after being invited by the country icon herself. Entertainment Tonight was on hand to speak with both Twain and Ballerini at the exhibit's unveiling, where each artist raved about the other.
“I love Kelsea Ballerini,” Twaint tells ET. “She’s humble. She’s talented. She writes. So I admire that. I admire her humility and grace.”
Ballerini could not believe the compliments her idol gave her, clearly dumbfounded when ET told her the news.
Modern Female Trailblazers Who Are Changing Country Music
“No, she didn’t. No, she didn’t. No, she didn’t. No, she didn’t!” she exclaimed.
Ballerini has said it was Twain who first taught her to sing. She tells ET she remembers being a kid and singing karaoke to Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!"
"I really think that she is such a trailblazer for not even just women, but for country music. What she did and when she did it was so crucial to where we are now," Ballerini says. "I love Shania Twain and I think she is such an icon. . . it wasn't just her music but it was her style and the way she performed, it was so progressive and so different.
"What I love most about [Shania] is I feel like she never tried to be different—she was just herself. That’s what made it so cool and had an edge and a quirk. That’s why I think she’s such a superstar. I look to her and I'm like, 'Man, everything you did down to every lyric down to every cool dance breakdown that you had in a song.' The fact that she did all that at that time, she's incredible!"
