Something Shocking Just Happened at This Store in Kilgore, Texas
Saturday night, September 14, something shocking happened at this convenience store off Highway 31 West in Kilgore...it may have also been exceedingly brilliant.
All or Nothing Game
This is one of the many games of chance the Texas Lottery offers. Players must select twelve numbers from 1 to 24 in each playboard or use the quick pick option. There are four drawings held every day, Monday - Saturday.
If ALL of the player's 12 numbers are drawn, they win the top prize of $250,000. Likewise, if NONE of the player's 12 numbers are drawn, they also win $250,000.
Here is the All or Nothing Payout and Odds Chart
Two Winning Tickets From the Same Store?!!
The numbers selected for the final drawing on Saturday night were 2 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 12 - 13 - 14 - 17 - 18 - 23 - 24.
Somebody who bought a two-dollar All or Nothing ticket at this Zippy J's store in Kilgore matched all twelve numbers for a $250,000 payout.
But wait...there's more.
That same store also sold a winning ticket in which NO NUMBERS were matched, for another winner of $250,000!
As I started racking my brain trying to figure out the astronomical odds of two people winning this game from the same store, it dawned on me that this was likely...
A Brilliant Play by a Very Lucky Person
There has been no verification from the Texas Lottery whether there were two separate winners of $250,000 each or just one person who gets half a million, I believe it to be the latter.
Here's what I think happened - somebody bought an All or Nothing ticket and selected the winning numbers 2 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 12 - 13 - 14 - 17 - 18 - 23 - 24. That person must have been feeling very lucky and purchased another ticket and selected the other twelve numbers 1 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 10 - 11 - 15 - 16 - 19 - 20 - 21- 22.
I mean, why not, right?
If you get lucky enough to match a majority of the numbers to rise up the pay chart, that means you're going to NOT match a majority of the numbers in the same drawing, so go ahead and purchase a second ticket for $2.
Only, in this case, this winner matched all 12 and then DID NOT match all 12...doubling his or her payout.
Well done and brilliant!
Once again, I don't have verification this is what happened, but I'd bet a $2 All or Nothing ticket on it.
