Storm Prediction Center Raises Risk of Severe Storms in East Texas
The Storm Prediction Center has increased the probability of an outbreak of severe weather across the Pineywoods on Sunday. There is now an 'enhanced' risk of damaging winds gusting to 80 mph, large hail between the sizes of half-dollars to golf balls, as well as strong tornadoes. This enhanced risk area includes Angelina, Nacogdoches, and most surrounding counties.
A moderate risk of severe storms is set for many of the same areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama that saw severe storms including tornadoes on Easter weekend.
Although storms could begin as early as tonight across Deep East Texas, the highest probability of severe storms in the Pineywoods will occur between 7 am and Noon on Sunday. Be sure to listen to KICKS 105 for updates and download our KICKS 105 App to receive weather updates to your smart phone.
