Hot and drier weather means more and more road construction projects around the Deep East Texas area. Here's the latest from the Texas Department of Transportation.
Record setting rainfall amounts have made numerous roads in north central and northeast Texas impassable. Many Lufkin football fans traveling on Friday night found out the hard way that Interstate 45 and other surrounding roads had been shut down.
The new bridges over the Neches River on Highway 94 are set to open! If 'Mater' the tow truck were around he'd be the first to drive on the new pavement.
Either later this afternoon or Friday morning (barring any unforeseen issues) Texas Department of Transportation workers will be making the switch from the old bridges to the new.
The Texas Department of Transportation is still reporting a number of East Texas roads that are a bit on the slushy side. Exercise extreme caution if you have to be on the area roadways.
Also, keep in mind, that with lows tonight near 22, any melting ice could again refreeze and make for hazardous driving in the early morning hours. Check out the complete release of road conditions from TXDOT af
