Taylor Swift Invites Little Big Town to CMA Awards Afterparty at Her Place
The CMA Awards party doesn't stop when the broadcast ends, as Little Big Town were reminded after 2016's show on Wednesday (Nov. 2). After scooping up the award for Vocal Group of the Year and claiming the No. 1 spot on the iTunes chart for their new single, "Better Man," the group partied all night long with superstar Taylor Swift.
LBT's Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet sat down with Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex on Thursday (Nov. 3) to dish what went down at Swift's Nashville penthouse, which is complete with a koi pond.
"We got to enjoy that last night," Sweet shares. "It was just a bunch of just friends hanging out, it was real informal."
According to the guys, the night at the superstar's Music City abode included glittery stamp tattoos, distributed to guests by Swift and fellow star Kelsea Ballerini. "She was so sweet. We had a fun night celebrating," the LBT singer adds.
Swift made a surprise appearance at the 50th annual CMA Awards to present the coveted Entertainer of the Year Award to fellow music pioneer Garth Brooks. After getting the news that "Better Man" — which she wrote — had reached the top of the iTunes chart, Swift congratulated Little Big Town on the victory via an Instagram post.
"She said it was a song that she loved so much and could hear our harmonies on the chorus," Westbrook says about "Better Man." Swift sent the song to the group after she wrote it. "We listened to it and loved it. It's a beautiful song."
Later in the interview, Sweet and Westbrook describe how they met Swift at a label showcase when the superstar was still in high school.
"We just watched her and thought, 'Man, she's so poised at her age and so focused and knows who she is,'" Sweet says, praising Swift.
"She's the biggest star in the world," adds Westbrook.
