The Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin has two events coming up in April that you may find interesting.

Archaeology Lecture

The Museum will hold its Adult Lecture: East Texas Archaeology on Tuesday, April 7th, at 6 pm. Amy Kitmacher, the Educator at Mission Dolores State Historic Site, will discuss the archaeology done at two East Texas historical sites and explain how that informs our understanding of Native American and Spanish Texas history in the forests. There will be a hands-on activity and the chance to touch and view a variety of artifacts. This is a free event. If you would like to attend, make sure to RSVP by Monday, April 6th, by calling 936-632-9535 to save your spot. That's also the number to call for more details about the event. Photos will be taken at the event for promotional materials.

The Museum Turns 50!

The Texas Forestry Museum is turning 50, and you're invited. The museum’s 50th birthday celebration will be on Saturday, April 11th, from 10:00 am to noon. The family is invited to come out and enjoy some fun activities, including a bounce house, games, crafts, cupcakes, and more. Some special friends from the Ellen Trout Zoo will be joining the party, and there will also be live demonstrations by local crafters. The event is free and open to the public. Photos will be taken at the event for promotional materials.

The Texas Forestry Museum is located at 1905 Atkinson Dr. in Lufkin. They are open from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except major holidays. For more information on the Texas Forestry Museum and its scheduled events, please call 936-632-9535.
