‘Top Gun’ Vs ‘Officer and a Gentleman’ – Which Was Better?
Is 'Top Gun 2' going to become a reality or not? The rumors of a sequel to the 1986 blockbuster have been running rampant for a few months now.
There have been positive hints from those that would be involved in the production of a new movie. Even Tom Cruise has indicated that a new Top Gun movie would be fun. Then, earlier this week, Val Kilmer who played Cruise's nemesis in the original, released a post on social media that seemed to verify that not only was Top Gun 2 a done deal, but that he would also be back to reprise the role of 'Iceman'. However, since that post was released, Kilmer has issued a partial retraction, but no one is quite sure which part he is retracting.
We will see how all of this plays out over the next several weeks, but, in the meantime, all this talk about Top Gun got me thinking about huge movies of the 1980s; more specifically, movies with a military theme. Top Gun (1986) starring Tom Cruise and Officer and a Gentleman (1982) starring Richard Gere were huge hits at the box office. Both movies had the action scenes and the romantic scenes that made them the perfect date flicks.
So...just out of curiousness, which movie is your favorite? Go to our KICKS 105 Facebook page and let us know. For a little reference, here are a couple of my favorite scenes.
