Caring Vet Serenades Dog With Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ [Watch]
The healing power of music is well documented, so one veterinarian decided to go the extra mile for a furry patient. Dr. Ross, a surgeon who works at Fox Hollow Animal Hospital in Lakewood, Colo., took out his guitar to serenade a dog with a cover of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love."
"Sometimes your patient just needs you to go the extra mile to make them feel comfortable when they're here for the day to have surgery," the animal hospital explains. "Dr. Ross has mastered the technique and sweet Ruby was so thankful for that."
Seated on a blanket on the floor, Dr. Ross strums his acoustic guitar while softly singing Presley's 1961 hit. "Can't Help Falling in Love" was featured in the film Blue Hawaii and has been covered by hundreds of artists who've followed the legend.
Presley would have celebrated his 82nd birthday in January, and many fans continue to make pilgrimages each year to his home of Graceland in Memphis, Tenn. The location is currently under a massive renovation project expected to cost $45 million. A new 200,000-square-foot entertainment complex called “Elvis: Past, Present & Future,” is part of the project and will also hold an exhibit of Presley’s cars and airplanes, as well as a retail space, museum, visitor center and hotel.
"We are thrilled to bring Elvis fans the opportunity to explore the things that Elvis loved and what he would have loved today — the music, the technology, the experiences," says Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of Graceland Holdings, LLC, in a press release. "'Elvis: Past, Present & Future’ will enable our visitors to live a day in the life of Elvis Presley. Whether you’ve been to Graceland multiple times or have yet to make the trip, we know that you will be entertained, educated and inspired like never before, here at the world’s greatest music landmark."
