Woodland Heights Medical Center ‘Cut Through’ Closes for Rebuild
Officials with Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin are advising persons who use their cut-through between Loop 287 and Gaslight Boulevard of a road closure for the second half of September.
Beginning Monday, September 16, Woodland Heights Medical Center will begin work on the connecting roadway that runs through the Woodland Heights campus.
The work will include the demolition and rebuilding of the road and will require the main driveway to be closed to through traffic. The project will be in two phases and is expected to last from September 16 through September 30.
The temporary emergency room entrance will still be accessible via the other Gaslight Boulevard entrances. Patients and visitors to the hospital will need to park in the parking lot that faces Gaslight Blvd (in front of the main entrance).
More information that includes a map and phasing details is available on the hospital's website at WoodlandHeights.net/patients-visitors as well as their Facebook page.
Woodland Heights has been in the process of upgrading and modernizing its facilities. Most recently (February), construction on the south side of the hospital required the closure of emergency and surgery entrances while a temporary emergency entrance was opened.
Woodland Heights Medical Center is a 149-bed facility offering inpatient and outpatient services. They are a Joint Commission-accredited facility and have received awards for cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, and orthopedic surgery.
Woodland Heights Medical Center is located at 505 South John Redditt Drive in Lufkin.
