Lufkin, Hudson, Diboll Among Many Area Schools Closing on Tuesday

A wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain has been occurring throughout Deep East Texas this morning. This has made for areas of dangerous travel on some roadways.

Thankfully, the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday has kept a lot of traffic off the roads due to schools being closed. However, the temperature across most of the Pineywoods is not expected to reach above freezing until midday Wednesday.

This means that residual ice on roads could still be an issue on Tuesday. Due to safety concerns, many schools across Deep East Texas will be closed or have delayed starts on January 16.
