A large off-campus party near Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas turned to tragedy late Friday night as police responded to calls of multiple shots being fired.

According to a description of events released through their Facebook Page, Huntsville Police were called to the scene of this party near the intersection of 19th Street and Avenue O.

This is located just south of the playing field for Sam Houston State Women's Soccer.

The release from the Huntsville Police Department indicates that at 12:38 am (2/4/23), officers responded to the call and upon arrival discovered several gunshot victims, and life-saving measures were started at the scene.

Four victims were located at the scene and all were transported to a local hospital. One of the persons succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased at the hospital while the three others are listed in critical condition.

Authorities are attempting to identify and locate two suspects that they believe are associated with the shooting.

Officers with the Huntsville Police Department are strongly urging anyone who may know one or both of these suspects to contact authorities at 936-291-5427.

In addition to the Huntsville Police Department, other agencies responding included the Walker County EMS, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, Sam Houston State University Police Officers, and deputies with the Walker County Sheriff's Office.

As of this posting, officials with the Huntsville Police Department have not released the names of any of the victims of this shooting.
