A short tribute to victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival opened the 2018 ACM Awards, but it was laughs and great country music afterward. Kenny Chesney, Maren Morris and Florida Georgia Line were among the first hour performers ... and of course, Reba.

Reba McEntire slayed her opening monologue and kept the energy high throughout the three-hour telecast. "Get Along" set the tone for the night, but Morris' "Rich" quickly let viewers know it would be a diverse show.

Dierks Bentley's moment with his wife and Miranda Lambert's emotional win in the Song of the Year category were two more early highlights. It was a great night for the women of country music as several of the format's best delivered memorable performances. McEntire was wonderful singing "Does He Love You" with Kelly Clarkson. Kelsea Ballerini was great singing "I Hate Love Songs." And of course, Carrie Underwood's "Cry Pretty" was an all-time great ACM performance.
