MEGA MILLIONS WINNER: Somebody in Texas Just Won $800 Million
Imagine going to bed Tuesday night and waking up Wednesday morning as one of the richest persons in Texas.
That's exactly what happened thanks to the latest Mega Millions drawing. Someone purchased a winning ticket from this Murphy USA convenience store on Highway 90-A in Sugar Land, Texas.
Tuesday night's winning numbers were 1-2-16-24-66 with a Mega Ball of 6. The winning ticket was a quick pick. I believe the winning store is also in line to get a nice sum for selling the winning ticket, but don't quote me on that.
So, Just How Much Will the Winner Get?
The jackpot was $800 million. Most winners take the lump cash sum, which in this case would be a little north of $400 million. Then, come the taxes. So, I think it would be safe to say that the winner will end up pocketing somewhere close to $250 million.
What Could $250 Million Buy?
Let's assume that $250 million is close to the take home for the winner. Here's an idea of just how much money that is.
The winner could buy a vehicle priced at $75,000 EVERY DAY FOR 9 STRAIGHT YEARS...and still have some money leftover. That's 3,333 high-priced vehicles. I guess with that kind of money you could also afford a garage big enough for all of them.
Powerball Jackpot
The Mega Millions jackpot will now go back to $20 million for the next drawing on September 13. The next Powerball drawing is coming up Wednesday night (tonight) with a jackpot of $134 million.
