Nacogdoches PD Arrest Two in Friday’s Officer-Involved Shooting
According to their Facebook site, the Nacogdoches Police Department has made two arrests in connection with Friday's officer-involved shooting.
Nacogdoches Police report that the original incident took place around 12:40 a.m. on December 29. An officer with the Nacogdoches Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a light-colored Chrysler 300 in the 1700 block of S. Fredonia Street.
The vehicle was very slow to stop but eventually stopped near the intersection of S. Fredonia and South St. Once stopped, an unidentified passenger attempted to shoot the officer, firing multiple rounds at him.
The officer returned fire at the suspect. At least one bullet from the suspect's gun struck the officer's patrol vehicle The suspect vehicle then fled westbound with the unidentified shooting suspect.
The officer was uninjured in the shooting. As a matter of protocol, the Texas Rangers were called in to investigate due to it being an officer-involved shooting.
Later on Friday, law enforcement executed search warrants at two locations. One of those took place at 5438 State Highway 7 West, the other at 6970 FM 2259 in Woden.
Those arrested were Jose Iraheta, 25, from Nacogdoches, along with Gabriel Ramirez 19, from Nacogdoches. Both have been charged with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant and are currently in the Nacogdoches County Jail.
Jose Iraheta was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana, Theft of Firearm, Tampering with Physical Evidence, three counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of Prohibited Weapon. Gabriel Ramirez has additionally been charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.
