Organizations that lay the foundation for stronger communities will have more resources to help them help othersthanks to Brookshire Brothers. The company’s Charitable
Foundation announces its 2016 recipients, including 15 nonprofits
and three education foundations. 

Trustees and company executives presented more than $110,000 to the recipients on
Monday at the company’s Distribution Center in Lufkin.

In making the presentations, Brookshire Brothers President and CEO and Charitable Foundation Board Member Jerry Johnson said, “These folks exist to help the hurting, enrich children’s lives through education and the arts and support health services and research. They touch the lives of thousands of our customers.  It’s our privilege to help further their reach through the Foundation’s support.”

Since 2008, Brookshire Brothers has invited its vendors to play in two Charitable Foundation golf tournaments each year. Proceeds since the Charitable Foundation tournament’s inception have exceeded a million dollars. Vendors appreciate the opportunity to network with their colleagues while raising money for nearly twenty worthy causes – all which support children and families and align with the grocer’s core values.
The funds are divided based on the organizations’ needs and application requests.

    • American Cancer Society-Pineywoods Cattle Barons Gala
    • Angelina Arts Alliance
    • CRRC of Canyon Lake
    • Court Appointed Special Advocates-CASA in the Pines
    • Friends of the Ellen Trout Zoo
    • East Texas Alliance for Children (Harold’s House)
    • The Joseph House, Inc
    • Junior Achievement of Angelina County, Inc
    • Junior League of Lufkin
    • Lee County Youth Center
    • Lufkin State Supported Living Center – Volunteer Services Council
    • The Dublin Goodfellows
    • The Mosaic Center, Inc
  • Education Foundations:
    • Coldspring- Oakhurst CISD Education Foundation
    • Lufkin ISD Education Foundation
    • Salado ISD Education Foundation

In addition to these contributions, Brookshire Brothers has a separate employee-run Donations Committee which meets monthly to consider hundreds of donation requests from throughout the company’s footprint. Those funds come from the company’s earnings.
