Spotlight on Huntington, Texas

Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of focus on the small town of Huntington.

The high school girl's basketball team just completed a historic run bringing home the silver medal from the 3A UIL State Girl's Basketball Tournament in San Antonio. The Alamo City pretty much was turned into 'Huntington West' since so many red-wearing fans made the trip to watch the girls play.

Another Huge Huntington Crowd is Expected

On Wednesday, March 6, the brand-new Brookshire Brothers will open its doors to the public. The store will open at 6 a.m., but there will be a big grand opening ceremony that starts at 10 a.m.

Representatives from the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to cut the ceremonial red ribbon. The Huntington High School Band and Cheerleaders are also expected to be there. Members of the Huntington Devilettes basketball team could also make an appearance.

The 36,000-square-foot store is located at 885 U.S. Hwy 69 South, just inside the northern Huntington city limits.

The store highlights many of Brookshire Brothers’ signature features and key service lines, including an in-store pharmacy with a drive-through, full-service bakery and expanded hot deli, smoked in-house meat and fresh meat market, massive produce department and Brookshire Brothers Anywhere, the company’s premier grocery delivery and curbside pickup service.

By the way, if you haven't tried the variety of smoked in-house meats, you are missing out. Check out this menu:

Why I Choose Brookshire Brothers

When I shop at Brookshire Brothers, I know that I'm supporting our East Texas community. The grocery chain is based in Lufkin and it's employee-owned.

Plus, Brookshire Brothers sinks so much money back into this community. The Angelina County Fair, Texas State Forest Festival, and the Texas Blueberry Festival are just a few of the East Texas events and organizations that they support.

 Let's Take a Sneak Peek

I had a chance to do a walk-through of the new store on Monday. By the way, the 'old' Brookshire Brothers on Main Street will close for good on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Let's take a look at what the new store has to offer
