Tuesday morning, Central High School's Mandy Cordova became the 7th area teacher to win a $1,000 classroom grant compliments of the KICKS 105/Whataburger Teacher of the Day Promotion.

We always try to keep the news secret until the presentation, and we got to hand it to Amy Jo Brown, Miguel Garza, and the rest of the folks at Central High School who went above and beyond to make sure that Mrs. Cordova had no clue.  In fact, she was led to believe the she and a number of students had been called to a meeting for a disciplinary issue.  Needless to say, she was relieved and overjoyed when she saw What-a-Guy and put two and two together.

Mandy Cordova joins the other six teachers listed below who have received the $1,000 grant to purchase classroom needs and wants.

  • Felicia Arnold - Dunbar Primary in Lufkin
  • Bobbie Morgan - Hudson Middle School
  • Brandy Hughes - Huntington Elementary
  • Heather Jacks - TJR in Nacogdoches
  • Gina Hodges - Temple Elementary in Diboll
  • Amanda Venegas - Brookhollow Elementary in Lufkin

We'll be awarding another $1,000 classroom grant near the end of the 2020 Spring semester, so make sure you nominate teachers at our KICKS 105 App.  If you were nominated for the Fall semester, your name is already in the running for the Spring giveaway.

Congratulations, Mandy!!
