Amazing Daughter Lifts Car Off Trapped Dad
A 22-year-old Virginia woman performed a remarkable feat last Saturday when she reportedly lifted a car off her father who was pinned beneath, then saved his life with CPR.
Lauren Kornacki was leaving her home in Glen Allen, VA, when she saw the car slip off a jack and fall on her father in the family garage. Without thinking, she immediately jumped into action.
“I kind of threw it, shoved my body into it as hard as I could,” she said, explaining how she manged to move the one-and-a-half ton car. “I came back and dragged him out and started CPR.”
Kornacki relied upon her training as a lifeguard and managed to keep her father alive until an ambulance arrived.
“His eyes were open, he wasn’t responding to me. I knew I had to get his heart beating again and I had to get him breathing,” she said. “I’m just telling him, talking to him. ‘You can’t leave me, you have to stay with me. Keep breathing.’”
Fortunately, her father, Alec, survived and is currently recuperating in the ICU at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.
“I’m just so lucky and proud that I have daughters that can perform CPR and have the knowledge to save lives,” he said. “I think it’s an important skill for everyone to know and if it weren’t for Lauren I would not be alive today.” Superhuman strength doesn’t hurt either, apparently.
