Every winter, medical experts advise folks to get their flu shots to help combat the upcoming flu season. But, this is 2020, and getting a flu shot needs to be high on your priority list.

We've been hearing quite a few doctors and researchers warn about a possible 'twindemic' during the upcoming winter months.  This is the less than favorable occurrence of hospitals and medical professionals trying to battle an increase in COVID-19 cases as well as the usual spike in yearly flu cases. Not to mention on a personal level, catching both COVID-19 and the flu simultaneously could be devastating.

Hopefully, a tried and true vaccine for COVID-19 will be available sooner than later, but for now, we definitely have access to the flu shot.  This weekend, Lufkin and Woodville area residents will have easy access to getting one as well.

Dedicated Medical Center and Urgent Care (DMC) has teamed up with Whataburger this weekend to present flu clinics.  Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm, medical professionals from DMC will be administering flu shots at the Whataburger in Lufkin located next to Walmart.  You may get out of your vehicle or you can choose to have the shot given while remaining in your vehicle.  The vaccine can be given to persons 4-years-old and up.

Please bring proof of insurance and I.D. to the event.  The flu vaccine is free with most insurances or you can opt for a low cash pay rate of $25.  The first 75 persons to receive a flu shot will get a coupon good for a free Whataburger.  Of course, all COVID-19 safety guidelines will be enforced, so please wear a face covering and please do not attend if you are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms.

On Sunday from 2 pm - 5 pm, the flu clinic from DMC will set up at the Whataburger in Woodville.
