December is off to a very cold start in East Texas. The daytime highs have been anywhere from 5 to 20 degrees below normal. Could this be an indicator of things to come for the remainder of the month? Will 2025 finally be the year that a widespread 'white Christmas' blankets the eastern third of Texas?

Temperatures are expected to moderate during this time throughout most of the Lone Star State. Although this outlook doesn't specify the forecast for Christmas morning, it looks like temperatures throughout most of the Christmas period are expected to reach into the 60s and 70s.

East Texas has experienced quite a bit of rainfall over the past week, but many computer models are starting to agree that the rainfall will be tapering off for much of the mid-December period. Remember the Record-Breaking January Snowfall in Houston

So, no surprise, the eastern third of Texas does not appear to have a favorable outlook for a white Christmas. However, 2025 has already produced a record snowfall for southeast Texas. Remember the massive snow event that took place along the I-10 corridor from Houston to New Orleans. An inch to four inches was common from Houston to Beaumont, and some areas in Louisiana received nearly a foot of snow.

Usually, when Jim Cantore is in southeast Texas, it's due to a tornado outbreak or an approaching hurricane...not a blizzard event.
