East Texans have a new family medicine physician to choose from. Board-certified Kay Nelson, M.D., is joining Woodland Heights Family Medicine. Dr. Nelson will begin seeing patients on Wednesday, September 30. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Nelson brings extensive expertise in primary care. She most recently cared for patients at the East Texas Community Health Center locations in both Lufkin and Nacogdoches, as well as CenterWell Senior Primary Care in Shreveport.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Nelson to our medical staff," said Jose A. Echavarria, Chief Executive Officer at Woodland Heights Medical Center. "Her vast experience, combined with her familiarity with the East Texas region, makes her an outstanding addition to our primary care team. Bringing physicians of her caliber to Woodland Heights reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare close to home."

Dr. Nelson earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport and completed her residency training with the University of Alabama Family Practice Residency Program in Tuscaloosa.

"I am excited to join Woodland Heights Family Medicine and look forward to continuing to build strong, long-term relationships with patients in Lufkin and the surrounding areas," said Dr. Nelson. "Continuity of care is at the heart of family medicine, and I am honored to serve this community and help individuals and families achieve their best health at every stage of life."

Dr. Nelson's office is located in the Medical Office Building at 10 Medical Center Blvd., Suite J, in Lufkin. New patient appointments can be scheduled by calling 936-630-1119 or by visiting WHMedicalGroup.com.
