In a Monday afternoon press conference, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced plans on how the re-opening of Texas businesses should be structured.

With a target date of Friday, May 1, Texas businesses such as movie theaters, restaurants, some previously closed retail stores, among others will be allowed to open their doors to customers as long as a list of criteria is met and followed.  Some of these conditions relate to the prevalence of COVID-19 cases in the county, testing availability, reduced occupancy rates, and adherence to social distancing guidelines.

Public swimming pools, bars, gyms, cosmetology salons, massage establishments, interactive amusement venues, such as bowling alleys and video arcades, and tattoo and piercing studios will remain closed through Phase I.
