Hall Henderson Appointed to Lufkin ISD Board of Trustees
The Lufkin ISD Board of Trustees met Tuesday at noon to appoint Hall Henderson to fill the vacant position of Dr. Keven Ellis who was elected to serve District 9 on the State Board of Education in November.
Mr. Henderson is a 2004 Lufkin High School graduate. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2007 and obtained his Masters of Real Estate from Texas A&M University in 2009.
Scott Skelton, Lufkin ISD Board President, said, “Hall Henderson is an outstanding choice to fill the seat vacated by Dr. Keven Ellis. He is uniquely qualified to represent the students, staff and citizens of Lufkin on the Lufkin ISD School Board based on his personal experiences, business acumen and leadership in the community.”
Skelton said, “I know that Hall will be a strong advocate for the future of Lufkin ISD as he has a vested interest in its success.”
Dr. LaTonya Goffney said, “I am blessed to work with an exceptional board that works fervently toward one goal – to make Lufkin ISD the best choice for Lufkin students. It’s great to have a Lufkin graduate come back to serve his community in this capacity. Mr. Henderson will be a great addition to an already strong team.”
The board of trustees met for a brief meeting where Pastor Andro Branch made a motion seconded by Don Muhlbach to appoint Mr. Henderson to the board. The vote was unanimous.
Mr. Henderson, said, “My grandfather was a trustee many years ago so I’m proud to carry on his legacy and serve among names like George Henderson, Rufus Duncan Sr. and Charles Kent. To be selected by the group of trustees is an honor. I’ve grown up with them as my coaches and mentors. For them to see me fit to be a trustee is quite an honor. I’m a dad of two young boys – so this is near and dear to my heart. I’m excited about the future of Lufkin ISD. Lufkin ISD is my past, and my boys are the future of Lufkin ISD. To play a role in that and be trusted to take on this responsibility means a lot to me.”
Mr. Henderson is married to Becca McIlveene Henderson, an educator, and has two young boys, George (4) and Charlie (1).
Mr. Henderson will be sworn in at the March Board meeting on Thursday, March 23rd at 6 p.m. at the Lufkin ISD Administration building.
