Head to Huntington for Delicious Catfish, Vendors, and Fun Events
Two words that always get my taste buds excited...FISH FRY.
Deep fried catfish along with hushpuppies, cole slaw and all the trimmings ranks right up there with a full on crawfish boil. Now, take to the next level and you have the annual Huntington Catfish Festival.
The Huntington Business Owners Association is presenting the annual Huntington Catfish Festival this Saturday, October 2 at Centennial Park. The event starts at 10 am and continues until 4 pm. You can probably find Centennial Park on Saturday just by following your nose, but it's easy to find. At the red light on Highway 69 in Huntington, just head east onto Main Street (FM 1669), go a few blocks and you can't miss Centennial Park on your left.
This year, Robert Truett and company from 58 Junction Cafe and Icehouse will be serving up the delicious catfish plates from his food truck. In addition to the mouth-watering catfish, there will be many other features and events taking place:
- Live musical performances
- Catfish Cook Off
- Numerous vendors including food, arts & crafts, unique items and much more
- Games for the kids and the young at heart
- Face painting
- Bounce houses
- Roselake pony rides and petting zoo
- Rock climbing wall
- Magician's show
Proceeds from the event will be used for projects and developments within Huntington, such as adding new amenities to Huntington's Centennial Park.
This year's Huntington Catfish Festival is presented/sponsored in part by the Huntington Business Owners Association, 58 Junction Cafe and Icehouse and by American State Bank. For more details on this event, visit the Huntington Catfish Festival's Facebook Page.
