It’s A Southern Thing – How it Feels to Move From the Kids Table
Growing up, we actually didn't have a "kids table", it was more the adults had a table and the cousins got the living room. It was nice. The aunts and uncles could have their conversations and the cousins of comparable age could do their thing.
There was always a 42 tournament after eating. If you got to play, that was our family's graduation from the "kids table". Those meals at my grandmother's were the best.
She made these rolls that were unbelievable. Big and fluffy and oh so good. And of course, were perfect for sopping up gravy. Or for making a turkey sandwich later that day.
As happens, we all grow up. Mama has passed away. So have a couple of uncles. But those Thanksgiving memories will always remain.
Happy Thanksgiving East Texas and congratulations to those who will be joining the adults this year to enjoy some turkey.
