  • The castle is open for tours, just stop by the bakery first or give them a call.

Every town has that one person who is just crazy enough to follow their dreams. In Bellville, Texas that person is Mike Newman.

He took the saying, "a man's home is his castle" very literally and built an amazing fortress in the small town between Brenham and Sealy, Texas.

Located just west of Houston the town of Bellville is home to almost 5K residents as of the 2020 census. A couple of those residents live in this castle that is open to the public for tours.

Massive Texas Castle Sits On 20 Acres in Bellville, Texas

Mike Newman completed Minecraft in real-life mode for 8 to 10 years with help from just one other person. All of the structures inside the castle walls were the result of his handy work and a lot of cinder blocks.

After he completed the building, Newman started living in the almost 4K square foot property, though the outer walls make it seem much larger. Newman himself is known to give tours of the great hall, chapel, and dungeon, even letting visitors explore the parts of the buildings that he lives in.

Visitors can help close the huge one-and-a-half-ton drawbridge and go up in the towers to get a view of the land around the castle.

Take a look around and you might want to make your reservation to check out Newman's Castle.
