We get fired up about many things in Texas, but without sriracha we can't get very heated. It is a bland world for Huy Fong Sriracha fans as another shortage has left store shelves vacant of the popular condiment.
I have been to grocery stores in Austin, Houston, Nacogdoches, and Lufkin over the past few weeks, and it's the same story. The tag and the shelf space are still there, but no Huy Fong Sriracha.
It's been a while since they have had it in stock, and yet they are still leaving that space there, instead of replacing it with another brand. That should tell you just how good this popular brand of sriracha is.

According to eater.com the company is blaming an "abysmal" spring crop of red jalapenos from Mexico. Some argue that it's just bad management by the company itself.
Much like the great Topo Chico shortage of 2022, this gives us a clear indication of our reliance on Mexico and the weather to get the products we desire. It is also good to know that there are some companies that refuse to compromise on their ingredients.
Luckily there hasn't been a Cholula hot sauce shortage, or we might all starve. Look at some other foods that might be in short supply in 2023.
