Kelly Clarkson will help kick off one of the world's biggest sporting events.

The superstar has been selected as the headlining performer for this year's U.S. Open. She'll take the stage on Aug. 27 at Arthur Ashe Stadium, near New York City, during the opening night ceremony.

The historic event is also its 50th anniversary in 2018.
