Lufkin Reschedules Lighted Christmas Parade to December 10

According to a press release from the City of Lufkin, the Lufkin Lighted Christmas Parade has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 10th at 5:30 PM. It was originally for Saturday, December 7, but rainy, cold weather caused organizers to cancel the evening event.

1. Improved Weather Conditions: Tuesday’s forecast predicts only a 10% chance of rain, making it the safest and most enjoyable day for parade participants and attendees.
2. Respecting Community Traditions: Officials took the time to meet with key stakeholders and carefully evaluated major longstanding holiday events, such as An Evening in Old Bethlehem, the Museum of East Texas Festival of Trees Gala, the Police Association Christmas Party, and the LISD Christmas Spectacular, to ensure the new date caused the least disruption to all beloved traditions.
3. Coordinating Volunteers and Resources: With over 21,000 attendees, this parade requires significant coordination, including city staff, permits, float participants, and volunteers. The City of Lufkin is grateful for everyone who has worked tirelessly to make this reschedule possible.
