City of Lufkin To Conduct a Large-Scale Emergency Alert Test
On Thursday, April 2nd, at 10:30 a.m., the City of Lufkin will conduct a large-scale test of its emergency alert system. This test will send alerts via text message, email, and phone call throughout Angelina County. This will also include land-line phones. Cell phones will sound an alert, and a message will be on the screen explaining this is a test. Lufkin’s emergency management coordinators, in conjunction with Angelina County’s emergency officials, will use this test to ensure the system is working properly.
Why Are We Having This Emergency Alert Activation Test?
Should there be a large-scale emergency, the City of Lufkin wants to ensure that this system is free of glitches and ready to alert residents and allow for instructions and directions to keep everyone safe, if the need should arise.
Lufkin Fire Chief Jesse Moody stated, “By testing this system now, we can all rest assured that should we face an emergency, we will be fully prepared to provide our neighbors with the information and direction they need to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.”
