Lufkin Family in Top 5 in Global Contest to Get Adoption Funding
The Power of a T-Shirt
It is estimated that more than 2 billion t-shirts are sold every year worldwide. I believe Deep East Texas does its fair share of contributing to that total.
If there's a school event, team, or fundraiser, chances are there's a t-shirt for that. A big family reunion is coming up, hey, let's get some t-shirts made to commemorate it. We buy t-shirts to show we were at a festival, participated in a fun run, saw a concert, or helped raise funds for someone in need.
Yet Another Reason to Purchase One
What if I told you that you could purchase a t-shirt and help an East Texas family get one step closer to fully funding the adoption of a sweet, little baby?
In the first few months of 2023, a single mother in Florida is due to give birth to a baby. Thankfully, she has made the decision to go full-term with the baby, and she has made the very difficult, yet loving decision to offer her child up for adoption. That prospective adoptive family lives in Lufkin, Texas.
Chris and Haley Taylor along with their three children are ready to open their hearts and home to a sixth family member. The couple has been married for 12 years and adopting a child has always been a consideration for the pair. Recently, they have been through a series of miscarriages and Chris and Haley believe that God is leading them at this moment to adopt.
November is National Adoption Month, and to highlight this, the organization Fund the Nations helps fund adoptions for selected couples worldwide through t-shirt sales. The Taylors have been selected as one of the ten couples who are finalists to receive funding for their upcoming adoption.
Let's Get Competitive
The amount of funding each adoptive couple gets depends upon how many ballots are cast for that pair. Every t-shirt sold equals one vote. The money from t-shirt sales goes back into the organization's funding for adoptions. The couple receiving the most votes will get a fully-funded adoption, somewhere in the neighborhood of $30,000.
As of this posting, the Taylors are in 3rd place with just a little over 24 hours of balloting time left. Voting will end at 11:59 Wednesday (11/16) night.
To vote for the Taylors, visit this link. The Taylor family has asked me to pass this along -- whether or not you buy a t-shirt, Chris and Haley first and foremost ask for your prayers.
