Tragic Night In Lufkin As Police Respond To Fatal Stabbing

LUFKIN POLICE UPDATE (8/25 - 12:30 P.M.)

Lufkin Police have arrested Jamarcus Dewayne Doggett, 31, in connection with the stabbing death of Wesley Allen Agent, 44, early Saturday morning during an altercation in the 900 block of Glenn Street.

Doggett was located at a nearby home and was questioned by officers and investigators. No arrests were made at the time while detectives and officers continued their investigation.

Doggett is being booked into the Angelina County Jail. He has been charged with murder, bond is pending.

For the second time in two weeks, Lufkin Police are investigating a disturbance that has led to a fatality.

According to a press release from the Lufkin Police Department, one person is dead following an altercation in the 900 block of Glenn Avenue, near Keltys Street, early Saturday morning (August 23).

Latest Info On The Fatality

Lufkin Police responded around 2:30 a.m. to the Glenn Avenue address for a disturbance call. While on scene, officers were told that one person involved in the disturbance was taken by a personal vehicle to a local hospital, while the other had left the scene.

Officers responded to the hospital where the man was being treated for stab wounds. Sadly, he died from his injuries around 3:15 a.m.

The other person reportedly involved in the incident was located at a nearby home and has been questioned by officers and investigators. However, as of 11 a.m., August 23, no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

Even though no one has been charged or arrested in this case, Lufkin Police are reporting that they do not believe there is any threat to the community.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers are assisting Lufkin deputies with this investigation.

Two Fatal Disturbances in Two Weeks in Lufkin

This is the second fatality in as many weeks to which Lufkin Police have responded.

On Thursday, August 14, Dean Alexander Orlov, 32, was arrested and charged with the shooting death of Joseph Lee Holeman, 45, at the Deer Cross Apartments.
