Here Are The Top Vote-Getters, And Where We Think They Should Open
In February, I made a post on Facebook asking folks which restaurant they thought should open up in the old Carl's Jr. location at the intersection of Timberland Drive and S. 1st Street in Lufkin. Over 500 comments were received.
Most of the comments gave restaurant suggestions, others requested that something other than an eatery move in, while others expressed concern about the traffic safety at this location.
Here's The Real Reason For That Facebook Post
The main reason I put up that post was to find out which restaurants area residents want to come to Lufkin--a wish list of the eateries you want to open in Lufkin. There are quite a few empty buildings and vacant lots that used to be restaurants in Lufkin, and I thought it would be interesting to play a hypothetical game of which restaurants should replace those vacant buildings.

It's Doubtful Most Of These Restaurants Are Coming To Lufkin
I don't see many of the restaurants mentioned in the gallery below opening up a location in Lufkin. But, it's fun to wish and imagine, right?
Some folks hoped that Ames Fried Chicken would open back up. I loved them, too, but after 15 years, I don't think they're coming back.
I love the breakfast tacos and atmosphere at Taco Cabana, but rarely do they open up a store unless it's next to a high-traffic interstate/highway or in a metro area. But, they are also included in the gallery below.
By the way, Waffle House was the top vote-getter in our Facebook post. See what you think about the location where I think they should be.
Without further ado, here are the restaurants you most want to come to Lufkin, and suggestions of where they should go.
