The Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo and Steer Show is coming March 27th-29th at the Nacogdoches Expo and Convention Center.  One of the big draws for the annual event is the KICKS 105 Mutton Bustin'.  

Each evening at 7 pm, 10 kids try riding sheep for points.  The longer you stay on, the higher your score. Of course, you can rack up bigger scores with style points.  Registrations are being taken now at the Boot Barn in the Northview Plaza in Lufkin.  Deadline to enter is noon on Monday, March 24th.  We will announce the 30 riders on Tuesday morning, March 25th at 7:30 during the Merrell in the Morning Show.

Here are the official rules of the event:

  • CHILD MUST BE BETWEEN 3 -7 YEARS OF AGE.
  • CHILD MUST HAVE NO MAJOR HEALTH PROBLEM.
  • CHILD MUST WEIGH 60 POUNDS OR LESS. (a scale will be at the competition)
  • IF CHILD IS CHOSEN FOR THIS CONTEST HE/SHE AND THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST BE AT THE NORTH GATE OF THE EXPO ON THE DESIGNATED NIGHT BY 6:50 P.M.  (NO EXCEPTIONS).  PERFERABLY 6:30 – 6:45 P.M.
  • IF THE CHILD AND PARENT ARE NOT AT THE GATE BY THE ABOVE TIME THEIR SPOT WILL BE GIVEN TO A CHILD ON THE WAITING LIST.                      
  • EACH NIGHT THERE WILL BE A WINNER AND RUNNER UP CHOSEN FROM JUDGES SCORES AND A COWBOY HAT WILL BE GIVEN TO THEM BY BOOT BARN.
  • ON SATURDAY NIGHT, ONE GRAND CHAMPION WILL BE CHOSEN AND RECEIVE A $50 GIFT CARD FROM BOOT BARN.
  • JUDGES WILL SCORE EACH CHILD’S RIDE AND THE HIGHEST SCORE OF ALL THREE (3) NIGHTS WILL BE THE GRAND CHAMPION.
  •  ALL RIDER’S PARENT/GUARDIAN WILL SIGN A RELEASE OF LIABILITY WAIVER.
