Nacogdoches County Man Flown to Dallas After Being Shot at Home

Wednesday afternoon (6/28) around 7:00 pm, deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sherriff's Office (NCSO), Precinct 4 Constable Office and Department of Public Safety responded to an assault with a firearm call on Balch Lane near County Road 350, south of Martinsville.  

Deputies arrived on scene and would later arrest the suspect who was behind the residence of where the shooting allegedly occurred. Deputies gathered information from witnesses that the actor, Chris Balch, appeared to be intoxicated and entered the home of the victim.  A physical altercation occurred between the suspect and the victim until the fight was broken up by a relative. The suspect then went into a bedroom and retrieved a shotgun. The victim attempted to disarm the suspect. During the struggle, the suspect shot the victim.

Another family member was able to take the shotgun away from the actor, where he then left the residence.

Chris Balch, 56, has been arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony 1^st degree. He was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail. The victim, who name is not being released at this time, was life-flighted to a hospital in Dallas.
