It’s Mutton Busting Time in Nacogdoches, Here are the Contestants

The Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo gets kicked off Thursday, March 23, and continues through Saturday, March 25. The action gets kicked off nightly at 7:30, however, we would encourage you to get there by 7 for one of the most entertaining events of the night.

Mutton Busting

It's become quite the rodeo tradition. The chute gate opens and a youngster holds on for points on the back of a sheep.

Over the past few weeks, registrations have been open at Boot Barn in Nacogdoches to sign up young cowboys and cowgirls for the opportunity to ride. There will be a total of 15 riders each night of mutton busting.

Over 100 entries were received to fill those 45 slots. Here are the riders that were drawn.

Riders are required to be at the Expo Center in Nacogdoches on their designated night between 6 - 6:40 pm. Any rider showing up after 6:45 will forfeit their spot. Riders are required to ride on their assigned night...no switching nights.

An attempt to inform each rider through the contact information on the registration blank will be made, however, this post serves as the official confirmation of each rider's parents.

The rider and one parent (guardian) will receive free entry to the rodeo. Anyone else will need to purchase tickets.
