Natchitoches High School Student Dies After On-Campus Fight

An 18-year-old senior at Natchitoches Central High School in Louisiana has died as a result of injuries from a fight that happened at the school on Monday. 

According to a report, Johnquaries Smith was involved in an altercation with a 16-year-old student just after 12 noon on Monday, August 25th.  Employees of the school found Smith unresponsive when they arrived.  The senior was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Shreveport where he passed away on Tuesday.

The 16 year old has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.

School officials have reported that this incident was not gang-related and that only these two were involved in the fight.  According to the report by KBTS, this is the 3rd fight-related incident on the campus since the start of school on August 11th.
