24 Hours of Non-Stop Fishing Make This Texas Tourney a Major Test
The 4th Annual Neches River Life Big Catfish Tournament is this Friday and Saturday. This unique tourney is one of the most intense, challenging, and difficult tournaments to fish in Texas.
What Makes This Tournament So Challenging?
3-person teams will start fishing at 10 a.m. Friday and go 24 hours straight until the tournament ends at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The boundaries cover over 140 miles of Neches River frontage from the southern forks of the Angelina and Neches Rivers (west of Jasper) to the northern boundary at the Highway 84 Neches River boat ramp.
Tournament Weigh-In Site
The weigh-in will take place Saturday, April 6th from 10 a.m. until noon at 58 Junction, located at 13774 FM 58, Lufkin (Beulah).
Heaviest catfish, ladies' tournament, and kid's pole tournament are all part of the event. There will also be competitions for a 2-fish stringer, heaviest gar, trash fish, and others with more details to come.
The cost to fish is $150 per team. There is no charge for youth to fish in the kid's section.
There will also be a drawing for a Havoc boat, motor, and trailer that’s valued at 15k for the participants sponsored by Harry’s Building Material and Havoc Boats.
Last year, over 450 men, women, and children fished the event, and the goal is to surpass that number in 2024.
More details are available at the Neches River Life website or their Facebook Page. The tournament director is David Holland and he can be reached at.936-366-0681.
