New Houston County Road Work Project Set to Last Until August 2023
Representatives with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) released details concerning a pre-construction meeting that was held Thursday in the Lufkin District Area Office signaling the beginning of a new construction project in Houston County, east of Latexo and Grapeland.
Construction crews will set barricades on Friday, October 15 and work will begin on Monday, October 18. The $4.5 million construction project was designed to add additional width by adding shoulders to FM 2022 between FM 2423 and FM 2663.. Pinto Construction Company, Nacogdoches, will serve as contractor for the project. Completion date is set for August 2023, weather permitting.
As this project begins, motorists are urged to stay alert near the work zone, reduce speed and obey all signage, including work zone speed limits. Law enforcement will monitor the area and fines double when workers are present.
