This last Saturday of holiday shopping before Christmas will be a wet one for the Pineywoods, thankfully, a nice day on Sunday is expected to round out the weekend.

An upper level disturbance is expected to bring a series of showers and storms over Deep East Texas.  Rainfall is likely all day, but the best chance of the heavier showers will happen between 9 am and 3 pm.  The chance of rain will drop to near zero by nightfall.

Thunderstorms will be possible with some of the showers, but no severe weather is expected.  However, since some of these downpours will train over the same areas again and again, up to 2 inches of rain may fall and there is the possibility of some brief, localized flooding.

We will have one more opportunity for rain before Christmas.  The National Weather Service is predicted about a 40% chance of rain or thundershowers on Wednesday and Wednesday evening.  For Christmas morning, you should wake up to clear skies and temperatures around freezing.  The high for Christmas day with clear skies is expected in the mid-50s.
