SFA Basketball Featured in USA Today
The 'Jacks are turning heads, and not just around East Texas and the Southland Conference. National sports outlets and sportswriters are also jumping on the SFA basketball bandwagon.
The Lumberjacks have won 31 straight home games, 24 straight games overall, and 12 straight road contests. SFA has clinched the Southland Conference regular season championship with an unblemished 16-0 mark and they are 27-2 for the season which has earned them recognition and points in the AP and USA Today top 25 polls. They rank as the #2 mid-major team in the nation.
Every year, one or two 'unknown' or lower-seeded teams in the NCAA tournament make a deep run. Eric Prisbell of USA Today thinks that might be SFA this year. You can check out the entire article here.
It's great to see the Lumberjacks getting the recognition and appreciation they have worked so hard to achieve. But, there's still a lot of work to do. In order to get the automatic invite to the NCAA tournament, SFA must win the Southland Conference tournament in Katy, Texas. That will be no easy task as the Lumberjacks will be looking to defeat teams for the third time in a season which is never an easy undertaking. But, to SFA's favor, there is no tougher and resilient team in the league.
SFA will close out the regular season with two home contests, this Thursday against Oral Roberts, and Saturday against Central Arkansas. A packed coliseum will go a long way into helping the Lumberjacks keep their winning streak alive.
Axe 'em, Jacks!
