In a report this morning from TexasStateSports.com, the search for a new head basketball coach for Texas State University has ended with the hiring of now former SFA head coach, Danny Kaspar

There are several press conferences scheduled at Texas State in San Marcos Thursday afternoon to make the move official.  Texas State recently made the move to compete in the Sun Belt Conference after exiting the Western Athletic Conference after just one year.

Kaspar had won over 200 basketball games in his 12 years with the Lumberjacks and Kaspar's overall record as a college basketball head coach is an impressive 438-188.  Kaspar's teams over the past few years have also garnered attention for being at the top or near the top in the NCAA in team defense.

Given Kaspar's great success at SFA, it seemed only a matter of time that a larger conference school would look his way.  It was certainly a great ride with him though, and on a personal note, I will miss him greatly as a coach and a friend.

More details about the hunt for a new head coach at SFA will be forthcoming in later blogs.
