At the request of the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Nacogdoches County man.

Details On The Missing Man

Authorities are searching for Sydney Alvers, a white male who is 88 years of age. He was last seen in the 4000 block of County Road 350 in the Chireno area.

Alvers walked away from his residence yesterday afternoon and was last seen on foot wearing a white shirt with red lettering, blue jeans, and had on house shoes.

Alvers suffers from dementia and has not been heard from or seen by family members since around 4:30 pm on Thursday, July 31.

How Long Has Alvers Been Missing?

After being notified of the missing person around 1:30 pm on Friday, August 1, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Law enforcement began an immediate search for Alvers.

As of 5 pm, Alvers has not been found. Police are seeking the public's help. If anyone has seen Alvers walking in the Chireno community since he has gone missing, please call the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's dispatch at 936-559-2600.

Numerous law enforcement agencies are assisting with this search for the missing man, including the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Chireno VFD, Melrose VFD, Swift- Shady Grove VFD, Martinsville VFD, and Hudson Search and Rescue. Many community volunteers are also helping with trying to find Mr. Alvers.
