Selena was known as the queen of Tejano music when she was killed in March, 1995, and fans came out of the woodwork after her death to let her family know how beloved she was.  The family needs support again, after the loss of six Houston relatives who died during Hurricane Harvey.

Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla, confirmed in a Facebook post that six relatives died after their SUV was washed away by flood waters in Houston on August 27th.

San Antonio TV station, KENS5, says Belia Saldivar, Manuel Saldivar and their four great-grandchildren, Devy, Dominic, Xavier and Daisy Saldivar, were traveling with the children’s uncle, Sammy Saldivar when their van was swept over a bayou.  Sammy Saldivar made it out of the van and clung to a tree until he was rescued, and he was the only survivor.

Selena was born in 1971 in Jackson, TX and fans here can be credited with helping launch her to Tejano super stardom.  Texas loved some Selena!  There was an enormous public reaction when she was killed, and fans still do their best to keep her legacy alive today.

Helping support her family during another tragedy might be a great way to channel that energy.
