Last week, Governor Greg Abbott made the announcement that he was going to designate Monday, February 2nd as Chris Kyle Day in Texas.

Governor Abbott made the declaration while speaking to a Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Austin.  It was met with a standing ovation.

Kyle is the US Navy Seal whose book was made into a biopic in the blockbuster movie 'American Sniper'.  The Midlothian, Texas native is considered a hero by numerous Americans, myself included, and I applaud the decision to make this Chris Kyle day.

In 2013, Kyle was killed at a gun range in North Texas.  The man charge with his killing will stand trial beginning in the next few weeks.
