The East Texas Rules of Thanksgiving
We are now - basically - hours away from Thanksgiving. Even though it sometimes gets lost between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving isn't a holiday to be flippant about. And, if you're looking to optimize your Thanksgiving, be sure to follow these rules for Thanksgiving, East Texas style.
- 1
No Politics
We're done with the mid-terms (finally). There's no presidential election for people to bicker over this year. So, on that note, just avoid the political talk altogether.
- 2
Protein, Protein, Protein
Load up on the meat! Turkey, ham, sausage, etc.! Steak, if you'd like! Go for the meat!
- 3
...and Carbs
Also a necessity for Turkey-Day. Don't avoid dressing, bread, mashed potatoes, etc.
- 4
Carve Out Time For A Nap
If you followed rules #2 and #3, then you'll thank me for this one. Find some time to check your eyelids for those pesky light-leaks.
- 5
Watch The Parade
This was always a tradition in our house, and I still look forward to it every year. Find the parade on TV and enjoy.
- 6
Enjoy Your Time With Family and Friends
This should go without saying, but so many times we get caught up in all the Thanksgiving Day festivities that we forget to actually enjoy those around us.
