The Ironman Tournament is This Saturday on Lake Sam Rayburn
The Ironman Tournament is coming to East Texas this Saturday. By the sound of it, you may think that this is some sort of competition that involves pushing the body to its athletic boundaries.
When you hear that the event is sponsored by Nacogdoches Pulmonary and Sleep Associates, that also lends itself to this type of athletic competition. You want healthy lungs and plenty of rest to compete in something like a marathon or triathlon.
Well, it is a major competition, but you only may start breathing hard when you're trying to pull that 7-pound bass into the boat. The Ironman Tournament is a fishing competition this Saturday headquartered at Cassels Boykin Park on Lake Sam Rayburn. But, this fishing tournament is put together a little differently.
The reason it's called the Ironman is that fishing will be going on from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Hold up, there is a four-hour break that goes on from noon until 4 p.m. So, from 6-noon, the anglers need to bring in their 3 biggest bass, then they go back to fishing again from 4-9 and go casting for 3 more big bass. The team with the biggest string of 6 will be the champs. To get more details or register for the tournament, click here.
Let's get back to that break that happens from noon-4. During this time, a 'pavilion party' is scheduled at Cassels Boykin Park. This event will feature entertainment, games, food, and giveaways, and the general public is invited. Families are especially encouraged to come on out. The KICKS 105 Road Show will also be there from noon-2.
You also have a chance to win $200 this Saturday. Take a guess at the total weight of the winning six-fish stringer. If you're the closest without going over to the actual total, you win $200. To register your guess, just click here. The deadline to enter is Saturday, August 6 at 6 a.m.
