Seizures Can Actually Be Caused by ‘Twilight – Breaking Dawn’
The decided ‘Twilight’ haters aren’t the only ones sick of the popular films — the latest installment, ‘Breaking Dawn,’ is apparently giving people seizures.
A pivotal scene in the movie shows the heroine Bella giving birth to a half-human, half-vampire baby, and the sequence involves quick edits with lots of red, black and white flashes. These flashes are reportedly causing photosensitive epilepsy — the medical term for light-induced seizures.
The graphic birth scene allegedly caused a man in Utah to pass out, and dozens of other people across the US have reported similar occurrences.
“It’s like a light switch going off, because it hits your brain all at once,” Dr. Michael G. Chez, medical director of pediatric neurology and epilepsy for Sutter Sacramento told his local CBS affiliate, adding that “the trouble with theaters, it’s dark, the lights flashing in there is more like a strobe light.”
